FOAM Magazine #61: Talent.

FOAM Magazine #61: Talent.

Foam Fotografiemuseum Amsterdam, who center around their commitment to creating an inclusive space for exhibiting photography, are back this month with their latest magazine issue, highlighting the latest artists talents.

Foam Magazine #61: Talent features 20 emerging artists selected for the 2022 edition looking closely at both the world around us, and the one within — without shying away from discomfort or pain.

Using the photographic medium to respond to, digest and navigate a world that continues to present new challenges and problematic structures. Climate change, political conflict, discrimination, displacement and social justice issues: the works address the pressing problems of our times and remind us that photography has the capability to confront the unspeakable.

This year recording a record high of 1,938 submissions from 85 different countries Foam are proud to present a selection that offers as much food for thought as beauty and innovation for the medium. With each accompanying portfolio text that has been specifically commissioned for their latest publication, Foam are presenting these emerging artists’ portfolios to their readers with a new found proximity to their readers.

Featuring award-winning photographers, prize winners and recently graduated artists, this month’s issue is no exception in its standard of talent and level of aesthetic.

From audio-visual artists exploring the tensions between the physical, spatial and emotional, to photographers documenting post-war communities and postcolonial reflections to poetry, the reconstruction of memory, identity exploration with themes including transgender and autism to cultural influence in all its forms, the 20 artists featured each present a significant voice.

With diversity at it’s core, from Beirut to the Ivory Coast, self-taught photographers to publishers, designers and non-binary artists be sure to discover their worlds and significance.
