Hurricane Ian hits Florida – will it be the country’s worst yet? IMAGO impressions.

Millions without power and 150mph winds – Hurricane Ian has hit Florida with what may be one of the worst storms in the United States yet. Impressions from IMAGO’s Picture Desk.

As residents geared up for Hurricane Ian more than two million were without power across Florida with a deadly  storm surge of up to 18 feet. Georgia and even the Carolinas may also have to buckle down for Hurricane Ian, which has been estimated to be 140 miles wide (about 225 km).

Now downgraded from category 4 to category 1, it has moved northeast with floods sweeping those in its path. IMAGO’s partners on the ground have braved the storm to give us a taste.
